I did it! 20,039 words in eleven days. 87 pages. 106,709 characters. And I had reached my goal before 6:00 p.m. I have now reached the 20k mark a day early which is good because it has been so much easier so far when I know I am a bit ahead and have a bit of breathing room.
The best part is that I am no longer wondering if I can make it through to the end and reach 50,000. The great bulk of the writing that was done early this morning was fourteen pages long and only one scene / chapter. As I am gaining a bit more confidence, the scenes are definitely getting longer, more descriptive, and sparking a great many more new scenes and directions.
I am especially happy as I was able to get the writing done, play with Kidlet, work on the mound of laundry and steam clean the carpeting in three rooms. But - I feel quite sure I will pay for it tomorrow when I have to be on my feet for nine hours shelving books.

Isn't it cool when the words start snowballing? I only start feeling that effect once I get to around 40k...
